The project
At the 2017 Paris Web conference on accessibility and design with Aurélien Levy, we used the metaphor of the conquest of space and the USA/USSR agreement to illustrate our point. For the conclusion of our slides, I drew 3 patches to represent design and accessibility as space missions.
At the same time, I asked who would eventually be interested in producing these patches, and the proposal met with some success. As soon as I had some time for this new side project, I got down to work, drawing a total of 14 patches covering most of the Internet jobs.
The Cyberspace Building Crew was born.
Kickstarter campaign
I then launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds to carry out the project.
This campaign was a success, the initial target was crushed in 3 hours and surpassed by more than 700% at the end of the campaign.
We have sent patches to many contributors around the world, and we are now launching this shop so that those who missed the campaign can buy the badges and stickers of the web workers!
Special thanks
Cyberspace Building Crew thanks the sponsors Alwaysdata, Dareboost, DFM VR and Opquast who trusted me enough to give me carte blanche and create new patches,
all those who believed in the project and relayed it around them to gather support, all those who proclaim their joy on social networks by posting pretty pictures of their swag,
All the people who spread the word and spread the site around them, and all the people who kindly shared all the pretty pictures they had taken of the products.
and of course to all the contributors to the Kickstarter campaign, who answered present so that this project could be born and so that people wishing to make the Internet more beautiful would have a sign of recognition.
